Grado Labs

I would personally like to say that Grado Labs has an excellent small business going. Granted, they don't have all of the tech support of the high-tech companies, they still do an excellent job.

My SR-80's were sent in for repair. They in fact were repaired and shipped out 8 days later, but sent to someone else. Over email I was informed numerous times that Grado was just behind on repairs. When I sent them the email that said I was incredibly disappointed and should have expected more from "the world's finest", I received a surprise phone call. The technician told me that they had made a mistake and were sending out a new pair of headphones which cost more. Up until that moment, I was ready to file a butt-load of hate review onto the internet. I received the headphones, and oddly enough, the headphones had the same problem as the last pair. I called repeatedly and got the same kind of response. After I had given up hope, I was told to try calling them again, and I got through and they sent me another pair of the more expensive SR-125's. They told me to keep the old ones, and surprisingly the new phones have another warrantee on them. Had this been a company like Dell, who may I add, I will never be doing business with ever again, I would had to have gone through so much crap. Even more than the time (about 4 months total until I got my final pair of headphones) I spent with Grado, I spent with Dell, after receiving four monitors with the same problem. Each time I could not receive another monitor until the old one was shipped in. Not to mention, the fact that I had to own a Dell computer in order to get the monitor fixed. So, after supplying a code from the old dell, I was told that the warrantee was up and I told them that the monitor had a 1 year warrantee. Anyways, the moral of the story is: buy Grado headphones with confidence, they are excellent, but Dells are the worst deal on the earth. They're even loyally supported by the overspending tech support at our local school system! Buy Grado and Apple, stray away from Dell!

Life And The Like

Well, it was a satisfying weekend. For two months, a friend and I have been working on a FAT friday chain reaction. We set it off, it was pretty fun, and most of the poppers set off fine, but I had to blow up a couple for giggles.
Turkey Day was a fun event, and my brother visited home for a while. It was a satisfying event.

And, above all, I saw Casino Royale... twice! It was an excellent film. I saw the last show on the opening night and caught a matinee to see if it still held the excitement. It certainly did. What was that I was saying a few months about how Craig did not look the part? I take it all back. With shorter hair slightly darkened, Craig looks fantastic in a suit, in sweaters and jeans or not. I was laughing pretty hard when Le Chiffre said, "Man, you take good care of your body!".

Excellent acting put in by Craig. Although Brosnan and Connery are my favorite classic Bonds, Craig is just excellent. He doesn't give a smirk during the one liners, is physically fit, and can beat the crap out of someone. Running through the sheet-rock, pure Bond. I certainly look forward to seeing Craig in another Bond flick, but seeing as the next Bond film is not going to be based on any of the Fleming originals, it makes me wonder if this is going to turn into a Purvis/Wade event with an excellent actor caught in the crossfire. By the way, am I the only one who thought Vesper put in an excellent role as Vesper? She certainly has the good looks, but did not make the Bond woman feel annoying, unlike Jinx in Die Another Day (what a bad montage of films), and Pussy Galore in Goldfinger. I could say that over all, this film doesn't replace the classics. My Tomorrow Never Dies and Goldfinger films are not going off of the shelf. However, this film has its own little niche in the Bond film world, and it is an excellent film. A definite DVD purchase.

Do yourself a favor, and if you have not seen Casino Royale yet, go out and see it!
